Very FEW WORDS ABOUT THE WorkSharon Edwards-Russell was an Associate Professor in the Art Department at Anne Arundel Community College, in Arnold, Maryland, for twenty years. She retired from teaching in 1985. The work displayed on this site is based on the primary shapes of circles and squares. Squares, crosses, circles, and triangles are the beginnings of all shape and form. These simple shapes have a rich history and association in many cultures. They are language, symbol, and form. Subconscious connection with these shapes is part of our very nature, simultaneously simple and profound. In addition to the
choice of shapes and the order of the elements, the texture and tactility
of the clay surfaces evoke a visceral reaction by their basic but subtle
qualities. |
